Research was done on more than 48 people from North America, Europe and Asia on genetics and ischemic stroke. Of those who had a stroke, 5,825 had early stroke and 9,269 had late onset. Early onset stroke was defined as ischemic stroke occurring before the age of 60 and late onset stroke was defined as those older than 60 years.
